The design story behind Samurai Padel Co. — Japanese heritage meets British grit

Every brand has a story. This is ours.

Where it started

We're Kai and Mark — two brothers who grew up straddling two cultures. Our mum is Japanese, our dad is British. We grew up eating sushi and fish and chips in equal measure, speaking English at school and hearing Japanese at home.

When padel exploded in the UK we both got hooked immediately. There was something about the game — the precision, the quick thinking, the combination of power and touch — that felt familiar. It reminded us of the Japanese philosophy we'd grown up with. Discipline. Focus. Mastery.

But when we went to buy rackets, everything looked the same. Generic. Forgettable. Nothing that reflected the culture or the craft of the game.

So we built our own.

Why Samurai

The samurai weren't just warriors. They lived by a strict code — Bushido — built on principles of honour, discipline, precision and respect. They trained obsessively, perfected their craft, and never took shortcuts.

That's exactly how we approach building rackets.

The name Samurai Padel Co. isn't a gimmick or a marketing angle. It's who we are. It's the philosophy we've grown up with and the standard we hold ourselves to every time we design a new product.

The KATANA

A katana is the iconic sword of the samurai — legendary for its sharpness, its balance, and its beauty. It's a weapon that took months to forge, with obsessive attention to every detail.

We named our racket after it for a reason.

The KATANA 1.0 took months to get right. The samurai warrior graphic on the face went through dozens of iterations before we were happy with it. The Japanese script — サムライ — sits across the top of every racket. The red and black colourway on the Black version was chosen deliberately — bold, aggressive, unmistakable. The White version is its opposite — clean, precise, refined.

We wanted every player who picked up a KATANA to feel something before they even hit a ball.

British-Japanese. Proudly both.

We're a UK brand through and through — based here, shipping from here, built for the rapidly growing UK padel scene. But our Japanese heritage is woven into everything we make.

It's in the name. It's in the design. It's in the obsession with getting every detail right.

This is just the beginning. The KATANA range is growing, the brand is growing, and we're building something we're genuinely proud of.

We're glad you're part of it.

Precision. Power. Control.
